For UNT's head basketball coach, creating a family mindset with his team members and coaching staff makes a strong foundation for a great team.

Four years into his job as UNT men’s basketball head coach, Grant McCasland is on a streak. His team (as of January 25, 2022) has won 11 of their last 12 games this season. McCasland credits that success to something beyond talent or practice. “The biggest part of winning here at North Texas,” he says, “is you get a group of people that do love each other more than they love their individual stats.” Having athletes who want to be part of something bigger than themselves creates a family atmosphere for the team.
